Get ready for some Fall knitting fun! On Saturday and Sunday, November 9 and 10, 2019, the Knit at Night Guild will present its first Weekend Day Camp. We will be knitting the Reyna Shawl by Noora Backlund on Saturday, using Malabrigo Sock yarn in beautiful variegated colorways. On Sunday, we will knit the Elphaba fingerless gloves by Wandering Cat Yarns. For this pattern, we are using a selection of elegant, self-striping colorways custom-dyed especially for us by Diana Story of Tumbleweed Yarn.
Size US #4, 24”-32” circular knitting needle, usual notions, stitch markers.
Set of size US #1 or #2 double-pointed needles or one US #1 or #2 long circular needle (32”-40”) if using Magic Loop; usual notions, stitch markers, stitch holders.
The Day Camp is being held at the Courtyard by Marriott Westchase, 9975 Westheimer, Houston, Texas 77042, from 9 am to 4 pm on Saturday and again on Sunday. Lunch will be provided by Panera Bread. Janet Madden, a KNOW member and an instructor at the Yarn Store Boutique, will be our fearless leader as we navigate lace knitting and thumb gussets. Janet will also share tips and tricks as she guides us through knitting both patterns.
Participation in the Day Camp is limited to 25 KANG members each day. Members may sign up for either or both days. Every participant will receive a copy of the pattern, a wound skein of fine yarn, a commemorative button, and a delicious lunch. The cost to attend is $45 per day. Registration begins on Monday, September 16 and payment can be made either by Paypal or credit card. Supplies needed for each day can be found on the registration form.
Take advantage of this opportunity to spend some quality time knitting with your friends and fellow Guild members, share lunch, and maybe learn a new tip or technique while you’re at it. We hope you’ll choose a pattern and join us for the Day Camp this Fall.
