KNOT Mtg – Simple Brioche

KNOT Mtg – Simple Brioche

The November KNOT meeting will be held the 3rd Thursday (Nov 17), in place of the 4th Thursday (Thanksgiving).  Please note that the December meeting will be held on the 3rd Thursday of December.

The November program will be a presentation by Sue Werner on the simple, single-color Brioche stitch. The Brioche Stitch is reversible and looks a bit like a 1×1 rib. It’s not knit that way!! The result is a thick stretchy fabric that is great for hats, scarves, and sweaters.  Please join us for a fun evening!
CHIX – Crochet Borders for Knitted Projects

CHIX – Crochet Borders for Knitted Projects

Chix will have Tamara Gooderham as our guest speaker. Tamara will begin her presentation at 10:10 am.  Please be prompt.

Homework will be as follows:
Knit a square approximately 5″ by 5″ in a worsted weight yarn in stockinette stitch (knit one row, purl one row).
Don’t cast on or bind off too tightly since we will crochet into these stitches.
A smooth light colored yarn would best.
Please block the square beforehand and bind in the ends.
Bring:
  • the knitted stockinette stitch square
  • more yarn in the same color
  • 4 stitch markers to put in the corners
  • a crochet hook half a metric size larger than the needle size used
  • (If you use size 7 / 4.5 mm needles bring a size 8 H 5mm crochet hook).
Skills required: Need to know how to do chain, single and double crochet stitches.

KNOW Mtg – Blocking Lace

At this month’s meeting, Janet Lauland will present a program for us on Blocking Lace Knitting. Janet will be discussing techniques and tools for blocking lace. We will also be observing the 20th anniversary of the Knit at Night Guild (KANG).

Many of us arrive at the restaurant early to have dinner together. Everyone is welcome to join us.

SoCK Mtg – Ergonomics & 20 Year Celebration

Have you gotten stiff hands after knitting? Wished you could finish that shawl, but your fingers just ache too much? Then you might need to see a chiropractor. Dr. Susan Bradshaw will be teaching stretching techniques for knitters. Come learn how to knit happy and healthy! If you have any specific questions for Dr. Bradshaw, please send them to her at drsue@lschiropractic.com.

In addition, we will be celebrating KANG‘s 20th Anniversary! Here is the party food menu: Whole wheat zucchini walnut loaf, Bacon Cheddar and Thyme muffins, Gluten free Blueberry Struessel Cake, Seasonal Fruit, Coffee, and Tea.   Please RSVP to the Facebook event or to sock@knitatnight.org so we know how much food to make. :)
