SUMMARY:CHIX Meeting - Doodling with Yarn
DESCRIPTION:Grab some yarn and knitting needles or a crochet hook and come have fun with Sheryl Means “doodling with yarn”.  Learn to create a one of a kind fabric that can be as structured or unstructured as you are comfortable with. There are no rules\, only fun with a few simple guidelines.  Handouts will be provided so you can enjoy the freedom of making unique fiber art wearables at home. \n \nMaterials to bring:\n– Small amounts of yarn in different weights ranging from lace to worsted\, textures\, etc. in a color palette that pleases you.\n– Knitting needles sizes 6-8 & Crochet hooks G-J\, depending on your personal gauge. (The goal is for a looser than normal gauge and we might even use more than one size!)\n– General supply kit with scissors\, finishing needles\, stitch markers\, etc.

SUMMARY:KIK Meeting - Sampler Scarves
DESCRIPTION:KIK is working on two sampler scarfs.  “You CAN Do It scarf”  and “Weston Sampler Scarf”  Everyone at the August meeting could choose which one they wanted to do.  The program for September will be a brief review of questions for the sampler scarfs and then a program on “Illusion” or “Shadow” knitting.  Please email the President at knitatnightguildKik@gmail.com if you plan to attend.  We want to have enough handouts.  Materials needed are 2 balls of smooth worsted-weight yarn in contrasting colors and the needles sized appropriate for the yarn.  Please no variegated or fancy yarns.  The outcome should be a close knit.  One color will be the base color and the other will show the hidden pattern.  Come join us.

SUMMARY:KNOW Meeting - Decorative Cast-ons
DESCRIPTION:At our KNOW meeting on September 24\, well-known Katy artist and knitting instructor Sony Hartley will present a program on Decorative Cast-on Techniques.  During her presentation\, Sony will teach three different ways to cast on a knitting project:  The I-cord Cast-on\, Picot Cast-on\, and Flower Cast-on.  In order to participate\, bring worsted-weight yarn\, dpn’s or a circular knitting needle size 8-10\, or a crochet hook size C or smaller. Sony will supply beads and flowers for our use.  Please plan to attend what promises to be a fun and interesting meeting.
