DESCRIPTION:Join SoCK as we explore making socks. We will be using the https://www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/toe-up-training-sock.This pattern is available as a free Ravelry download \nPrior knowledge of magic loop knitting is helpful and using a circular needle is recommended. You will end up with a small sock that can be used as a key chain or even a swatch for a larger project. \nThis pattern uses Judy’s Magic Cast On and Jeni’s stretchy bind off . The heel uses wrap & turn short rows. \nOur meeting will be through Zoom. Invitations will be sent to the SoCK members. If you are not a SoCK member but want to attend\, contact Debbie.

DESCRIPTION:Paula will walk us through a technique to join two garter strips together. Hope to see you at the zoom meeting. \nSupplies: Worsted yarn in color A and color B\, size 7 (4.5mm) knitting needle\, US 8/H (5mm) crochet hook\, waste yarn holder\, tapestry needle to fit waste yarn. \nHomework: Color A using cast on  10 stitches using the long tail method. The cast on row is the first row and the right side. Do not slip stitches at the beginning or end of the rows. Knit 11 rows then place on waste yarn holder. Leave a tail. Repeat again using Color B. \nYou will be making two strips using two different colors of yarn. SUMMARY:KIND Meeting - Dorset buttons
DESCRIPTION:The KIND chapter will meet via Zoom on August 20 at 10 am. Pat Modisett will present a program on making Dorset buttons. \nDorset buttons are essentially rings (plastic now\, formerly wood\, bone or horn) covered with natural linen or cotton (or wool). We’re going to learn the basic design and then you can let your imaginations soar! \nBecause of limited supplies\, if you plan to attend the class\, please send Pat an email at modisettwilson@gmail.com with your physical address so that she can mail you a packet of materials. Only the first 15 people to register will get the packet. \nPat has had fun learning about these and can see lots of possible uses. Ours probably won’t be used for custom made undergarments or fireplace hoods as they were back in the day\, but they’d look great on a sweater or hat or accent piece on a scarf or purse.  Join us and try it! All registrations must be received by noon on August 13.

SUMMARY:KNOW Meeting - Coffee cup cozy
DESCRIPTION:At the moment we are holding Zoom meetings. Please watch your email for a Zoom invitation. Members of other KANG Chapters please email knitatnightguildknow@gmail.com by August 24th to receive an invite to join our meeting. \nWe will be doing a mini-project over the next two Zoom meetings. For the first part\, we will get our colorwork going as we knit a small fair-isle piece in the round during the August meeting. \nIn September\, we will take the finished fair isle and do a steek\, where we cut our knitting (!) and add a button band. The result will be a colorful cardi coffee cup cozy! \n\nThe pattern for the project is “Steek This Coffee Cozy” by Rachel Molenaar and it is free on Ravelry.  Please download it ahead of the meeting and print it out if you like (and if you are able!)\nFor the meeting\, grab an assortment of DK or worsted weight wool (non-superwash and 100% wool suggested) in 5 colors: 2 for the background and 3 for the pattern.\nYou will need circular needles or double-pointed needles (size 5 suggested; we will knit 53 stitches in the round.)\n\nJoin us as we learn from each other; there are many ways to knit stranded colorwork\, and many ways to knit in the round!
