You’ll need 12-15 yards of your main color and 4-5 yards of the contrast color. \nIf you have bobbins\, feel free to bring them – you’ll need 3. You can also make your own bobbins from cereal boxes\, use a clothespin\, or wind yarn into a butterfly (all of which we’ll cover in the program).

DESCRIPTION:At our May 21st meeting\, our program will be about swatching\, determining gauge\, and blocking. \nDuring the program swatches will be used to examine gauge and why it is different and how one can adjust gauge. Blocking techniques will also be discussed. \nThere will be homework for those attending. \nHomework–make 2 swatches \n\nUsing worsted weight (#4) yarn and size 7 needles\, cast on 32 stitches and knit in stockinette stitch for 4-6″. Make 2 of these.\nSoak one of the swatches in cool water for 15-30 minutes. Lay it out and pin it so the edges are straight. DO NOT STRETCH IT. Leave the pins in until the swatch is totally dry (several hours or overnight).\nDon’t do anything to the second swatch.
