No homework is necessary\, but those who would like to try making a small swatch can bring some light-colored worsted weight yarn and an 8mm (11/L) or 9mm (13/M) straight\, non-ergonomic crochet hook. A Tunisian crochet hook is not necessary but if you already have one feel free to bring it. DESCRIPTION:The Knit at Night Guild is pleased to announce the next charity knitting/crochet event to be held on Sunday\, October 22nd from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. at Windwood Presbyterian Church. It is located at 10555 Spring Cypress\, just east of Highway 249.  \nFor this gathering we are focusing on Warm Up America!\, making 7” x 9” blanket sections made in worsted acrylic yarn. The charity expressed the need for blankets\, and they have joiners who will put together the knitted and crocheted sections we provide. \nThere are links to some patterns for the blanket sections listed on the guild website as well as the charity site below. She will present a variety of cable stitches\, their uses\, cable needles\, and descriptions. We will look at a chart and a written pattern for the same sample\, learn how cable stitches appear on the chart\, how they are used in patterns\, then how to make them—with and without a cable needle. DESCRIPTION:Hazel Kjos will guide us in learning the Ten Stitch Technique\, an easy way to make square objects such as blankets. \nFor homework: take a favorite solid-colored yarn\, cast on 10 stitches and knit in garter stitch for 20 rows (10 ridges.) Slip the first stitch of each row and knit all the way to the last stitch of each row. \nAt the meeting\, Hazel will show the process of mitering to create sharp corners and continuing around the central piece to enlarge it\, similar to a Log Cabin Barn Raising quilting pattern.
