Let’s do a great stash buster. This month will be crochet program introducing the C2C (corner to corner) technique.
Stitches used: chain, dc (double crochet), ss (slip stitch) and slip knot.
Materials: 2 to 3 worsted yarn colors, “H” hook, markers and normal supplies
Join SoCK as we learn to crochet. Come learn the stitches necessary to make a stash basket. Bring a H crochet hook. Yarn will be provided. Looking forward to seeing you there.
We will be sharing gadgets that make knitting/crochet easy. Please bring your favorite gadget that you use. We will be also making portable counters.
Chix will have Tamara Gooderham as our guest speaker. Tamara will begin her presentation at 10:10 am. Please be prompt.
Homework will be as follows:
Knit a square approximately 5″ by 5″ in a worsted weight yarn in stockinette stitch (knit one row, purl one row).
Don’t cast on or bind off too tightly since we will crochet into these stitches.
A smooth light colored yarn would best.
Please block the square beforehand and bind in the ends.
- the knitted stockinette stitch square
- more yarn in the same color
- 4 stitch markers to put in the corners
- a crochet hook half a metric size larger than the needle size used
- (If you use size 7 / 4.5 mm needles bring a size 8 H 5mm crochet hook).
Skills required: Need to know how to do chain, single and double crochet stitches.
