We have had a busy month in charity. We had the opportunity to send our works to Berlin, Germany; for distribution to Ukraine refugees. Our charity coordinators drove all over town, picking up items from charity knitters.
We collected two large boxes weighing a total of 60 lbs and shipped them to Berlin. Our Berlin contacts pedi-biked our contributions to the refugee donation drop-off site. With the warming weather, the refugee services in Berlin is no longer requesting hats, blankets and scarves. If the world doesn’t settle by October, charity coordinators will look to make another shipment to Europe.
Meanwhile, our charity knit-together event in Katy, at the No Label brewery was fabulous. The weather was perfect. There was food, girl scouts selling cookies, tasty beverages, and many knitters and crocheters.
Charity coordinators collected 42 wool hats, an additional 70 other hats of all sizes, 8 blankets, 29 scarves, 3 pair of slippers, 4 shawls and 6 headbands. Charity coordinators are preparing a semi-annual drop off with Children’s Safe Harbor in Conroe. Child items will go there. The rest will be collected and held until the colder months arrive again.
Our next Charity Knit Together will be 1 May 2022. Charity coordinators are working on the location, so keep an eye on the KANG website and/or our Facebook page.
