Charity Knitting – Dec 2024 Update

Our next Charity Knit-In will be in January! Check back in the next newsletter for more information about what, when, and where!

In the meantime, please keep working on projects for our charity partners, including:

  • hats for Houston ISD Head Start (we have tons of kits available)
  • Knitted Knockers (kits available for these as well)
  • chemo caps / hats for Knots of Love (must use yarn from their approved yarn list)
  • blankets 24″ x 36″ or larger for Project Linus
  • 7″ x 9″ rectangles or whole blankets for Warm Up America
  • large, neutral-colored hats for men for the Robin Hood Project
  • shawls, wraps, and lap blankets for the cancer infusion center

We have kits available for Head Start hats and for Knitted Knockers; please email [email protected] to see about getting those into your hands (or those of your chapter). There is also a ton of new yarn in the charity stash!

Our work and skill do not go unnoticed, and your donations help to bring warmth and comfort to people all over Houston and beyond. In 2024, we collectively donated:

  • 17 chemo hats and 12 shawls to cancer patients at Houston Medical Center
  • 17 infant hats to LBJ hospital
  • 12 dishcloths to Cross Community Church’s food pantry
  • 46 dog sweaters to Special Pets
  • 8 pieces to Warm Up America
  • leftover stash yarn and tools to Pearland High School
  • additional stash yarn and tools to med students who knit for the Women’s Hospital of TX
  • 74 hats to Houston ISD Head Start
  • 11 shawls and 8 hats to Women’s Hospital of Texas
  • several dark/neutral-color hats to the Robin Hood Project
  • and much, much more to come!
