Knitting in the Daytime (KIND)

May 21 @ 10:00 AM - 12:00 PM

At our May 21st meeting, our program will be about swatching, determining gauge, and blocking.

During the program swatches will be used to examine gauge and why it is different and how one can adjust gauge. Blocking techniques will also be discussed.

There will be homework for those attending.

Homework–make 2 swatches

  1. Using worsted weight (#4) yarn and size 7 needles, cast on 32 stitches and knit in stockinette stitch for 4-6″. Make 2 of these.
  2. Soak one of the swatches in cool water for 15-30 minutes. Lay it out and pin it so the edges are straight. DO NOT STRETCH IT. Leave the pins in until the swatch is totally dry (several hours or overnight).
  3. Don’t do anything to the second swatch.
