KNIT Meeting – Knitting as a Form of Protest

Our program for the month is Knitting as a form of Protest with our very own Nancy Polychronopoulos.
Nancy will give a talk on the history of knitting and Crafting in Dissent about crafting as a way to protest – it’s not a new thing!

For our KAL, Step 2 is working the sleeve and dolman shaping — work through page 4 of the pattern which means you will end with the 3 Set Up for the Right Shoulder Rows. ** If you finish this phase up, and want a jump start you can work the Left Sleeve exactly has you have for the right (following the directions on page 6). **

Brioche part 2 assistance will be available for those of us knitting the All About the Brioche shawl.

Lastly a surprise from Ruth’s bag of knitting tricks.  You won’t want to miss this month’s program!

KNIT Meeting – 2-color brioche

Our program for the month is 2-color brioche using the shawl pattern “All About that Brioche” by Lisa Hannes/maliha designs. We will cover the basic brioche stitch and 2-color brioche. Bring two different colors of DK yarn and appropriate size needles AND needles one or two sizes below the appropriate size. If you want, you can knit Part 1 of the body of the shawl according to the pattern (all garter stitch).

If you are following the KAL of Laura Nelkin’s POCA sweater. January is Step 1 – wind your yarn, make a gauge swatch. Just like Laura suggests, start knitting the sleeve. We will make sure you are on gauge for a correct fit.

KNOT Mtg – Simple Brioche

KNOT Mtg – Simple Brioche

The November KNOT meeting will be held the 3rd Thursday (Nov 17), in place of the 4th Thursday (Thanksgiving).  Please note that the December meeting will be held on the 3rd Thursday of December.

The November program will be a presentation by Sue Werner on the simple, single-color Brioche stitch. The Brioche Stitch is reversible and looks a bit like a 1×1 rib. It’s not knit that way!! The result is a thick stretchy fabric that is great for hats, scarves, and sweaters.  Please join us for a fun evening!
