SoCK Mtg – Knitting Origins
Have you ever wondered about the origins of knitting? Stopped to think, who came up with the idea of taking two sticks and some string and making a sock? Just how old is knitting? What were the first knitted items? Wonder no more. Come learn about the beginnings of knitting through the medieval period. Learn about where knitting began and what people in the dark ages knitted. There will be pictures of pieces from the medieval age, reproductions, and patterns based upon historical pieces. All taught by a noble woman from the 1300s.
KNOT Mtg – Dyeing Demo
Knitters North of Town (KNOT) will not be meeting at our regular time or place in July!
Instead we will be meeting at 10:30am at Mohair &More (231 Gibbs Street, New Waverly, Texas 77358) for a dying Demonstration with Louise and Bill Lane. Yarn and fiber will be available for purchase as your canvas for dying and the artist in you will be revealed! If you plan on attending please contact Louise at 936-661-8022. This will give her an idea of how many to look forward to coming. Bring your knitting and crochet and enjoy visiting with fiber friends.
Camp Allen Retreat – 2019
The annual retreat at Camp Allen near Navasota will be held March 21-24, 2019.
Houston Fiber Fest 2017
There’s more to Houston Fiber Fest than just classes and shopping; there’s also the fun of meeting new friends! The Meet-Up Table in the atrium (look for the balloons!) is the place to be. There will be knit- and crochet-alongs, stitch marker swaps, demos, and lots of opportunities for you to talk with other Houston area fiber enthusiasts who share your interests. When the vendor hall closes on Friday and Saturday evening, gather at the table to coordinate group outings to local restaurants.
