SoCK Meeting – Kickoff for KAL/CAL

Saturday Cypress Knitters (SoCK) – Saturday, October 14, 10:00am – 12:00pm

Back by request, SoCK will begin a knit-along (KAL) and crochet-along (CAL). You decide which program you want to participate in — one, both or none. Debbie Smith will take us on our journey as we work on our projects. The goal is to show off our gorgeous items at our meeting next June.

  1. Choose a project that has a new technique, skill, or something that you have always wanted to do, but haven’t.
  2. Bring the project to our monthly meeting, October thru June. Share your progress, if you need help, reach out.
  3. You can work on more than one project.
  4. Looking forward to hearing everyone’s plans!

KNOW Meeting – Sock KAL

Knitters Night Out West (KNOW) – Monday, September 25, 6:30pm – 8:30pm

WHEN: Last Monday of the month (Except May and December), 6:30-8:30pm

Many members come early and get their BBQ fix for dinner. See y’all on Mon Sept 25th, at 6:30pm at Spring Creek BBQ on I-10 and Westgreen, in Katy!!

SoCK – Beach Diamonds Wrap KAL

Join Sock as we begin our new KAL Ravelry: Beach Diamonds Wrap pattern by Ing-credible Threads Designs as a featured project. Yarn choices are Lion Mandala or your choice of any DK weight yarn.

We are also starting the Social scarf Ravelry: #06 Social pattern by Deborah Newton for our technique skills. This is a cable pattern block, co 64 in multiple 16 stitches plus12. Bring your stitch dictionary to help find a cable pattern if not using Vogue magazine fall 2020.

We will meet virtually. If you need an invite, please email [email protected] for a link to the meeting. Looking forward to seeing you.

SoCK November Meeting

Join SoCK at the Weekley Center or on Zoom for our latest KAL, the Bright Side, https://www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/the-bright-side . This is a free pattern on Ravelry. I also want to remind everyone to bring their finished KAL, Intermezzo,  the Cable Phone Case, or your mosaic bookmark, or trivet. We will have a drawing for those who have completed these projects. Contact Debbie if you need an invitation for the zoom meeting or if you need any further explanation.

KNIT Meeting – KAL recap, virtual classes

Wishing for a fresh start? Restart? KNIT will start our fall programs with a KAL recap. Bring your finished socks or Poco to show off or maybe get help with. After our KAL completion celebration, we will discuss the various virtual classes available and prepare for fall programs. Come with your ideas and ready to “craft”.

KNIT Meeting – FROG that project!

Our March 10 meeting is all about spring, spring beginnings, spring break.  So to go along with the biggest spring event in Houston we’re going to have the “Rippit Rodeo”.  Bring that project that you’ve wanted to FROG and get it done during our time together.  We’ll have a winder set up available so you can undo the project that’s not going to go any further and get it wound up and ready to go for a new one.  And don’t forget the Poca KAL.  Bring yours and we’ll work through next steps, directions, and questions.

KNOT Meeting – Yarn Substitution

Note change in location of meeting this month: KNOT will be having the Meeting February 27th 6:30 to 8:30 pm at Yarn Store Boutique’s new location, 8900 Eastlock Drive, #230, Spring, TX 77379.

Doris Scott will teach us about yarn substitution. Please call the shop if the gate is closed, 281-430-3770.

We are also starting a KAL named “Audition”, and here is a LINK with lots of details, information and resources that have gone out to KNOT members.  Those that are participating in the KAL will need sections 1 and 2 completed by the February meeting as we will be learning the first pattern panel that evening.

KNIT Meeting – Knitting as a Form of Protest

Our program for the month is Knitting as a form of Protest with our very own Nancy Polychronopoulos.
Nancy will give a talk on the history of knitting and Crafting in Dissent about crafting as a way to protest – it’s not a new thing!

For our KAL, Step 2 is working the sleeve and dolman shaping — work through page 4 of the pattern which means you will end with the 3 Set Up for the Right Shoulder Rows. ** If you finish this phase up, and want a jump start you can work the Left Sleeve exactly has you have for the right (following the directions on page 6). **

Brioche part 2 assistance will be available for those of us knitting the All About the Brioche shawl.

Lastly a surprise from Ruth’s bag of knitting tricks.  You won’t want to miss this month’s program!
