KIK Zoom Meeting

KIK will be meeting via Zoom July 18 at 10:00 am.  We met for the first time in June and really enjoyed seeing each other. We are all anxious o meet in person.

KIK Meeting – What do you love?

Saturday, February 15 will be a show your love day.  What tools do you love?  What yarn do you love?  What patterns do you love?   Show your love through charity knits.  Knit preemie hats for Kingwood Medical Center NICU to show your appreciation for the use of their room.

KIK Meeting – Matching cast-ons and bind-offs

For January’s program, Connie Blakley will review various techniques for casting on and binding off, and how to match your cast-on/bind-off stitches. For those who would like to try some new techniques, we will knit a couple of swatches. Bring some worsted weight yarn in a solid, light color, size 8 knitting needles, and a size G crochet hook.

KIK Meeting – Holiday party

KIK is having a party on December 21, Saturday, at 10:00 am.  Bring finger foods (no utensils) to share and a gift not to exceed $15.00 to exchange.  The chapter will provide drinks and a fun game.

KIK Meeting – Creative Cash for Gifts

Gloria Stafford will show us easy and creative ways to give cash as Christmas gifts.

Materials to bring:

  • knitting needles or crochet hooks
  • your favorite color yarn, no specific weight

Gloria will provide the containers and ribbon.

KIK Meeting – Substituting Yarn

Have you ever wondered why the yarn you chose for a project didn’t seem to work?  Sometimes we substitute yarn for what the pattern recommends.  Come to the KIK meeting Saturday October 19th.  Our program will be “The Difference Fiber and Weight Make To Your Project” presented by Doris Scott, owner of The Yarn Store Boutique.

KIK Meeting – Reading charts

Have you missed a ,*( ) in reading a pattern?  A chart can be a visable way to read patterns.  They are available with a lot of patterns and can save you time.   KIK’s  program this month will be “Taking the Mystery out of Reading Charts”, presented by Connie Blakeley of the KIK Chapter.

KIK Meeting – History of Knitting

Did you ever want to know how knitting started?  At the August meeting we will have an exciting presentation by Elizabeth Spies on the history of knitting.  I know I am anxious to learn our history. Come join us!

KIK Meeting – Beading

We have an exciting program for our July 20th meeting in Kingwood.  Crystal Smith from the KNIT chapter will be presenting a program on using beads with knitting.  The program will cover information for beginners as well as advanced knitters.   Those with more experience are encouraged to bring their projects to show and discuss.  Materials needed are fingering weight yarn (solid, lighter colors are best) and size 6 or 8 beads.  You will also need a beading tool.  a size 1.25 mm crochet hook will work.  She will bring other materials to use if you do not have the tool.

KIK meets at the Kingwood Medical Center in the Kingwood Room from 10:00 am to 12:00.  We meet on the 3rd Saturday.  The address is 22999 Hwy 59 N. Kingwood, TX 77339   Hope to see you there.
