KNIT Meeting –

Welcome back to Trini Mendehall for the Co-Presidents hand-off. We are excited to welcome as new Co-Presidents, Natalie and Karen. Bring your projects to work on. Let’s celebrate seeing each other. A virtual link will be provided for members who want to join online.

SoCK Meeting – Baby donations

Please join SOCK as we knit baby items to donate. The votes are in Ravelry: Little Babbity – Preemie Baby Cardigan Jacket pattern by marianna mel and Ravelry: Little Jay – Premature Baby Cardigans pattern by marianna mel. Both patterns are knit with DK weight yarn and size US6 knitting needles. We will be finishing up our shawls and any past projects. Make sure you bring items for show and share.
We will be meeting at the Weekley Community Center and Zoom, so please mark your calendar to be present.

KNOT Meeting – Beaded bracelet

At our June 24 meeting, Carla Farris will be teaching how to make your choice of a knitted beaded bracelet or a beaded crocheted rope. You will need to have your beads threaded and ready to begin at that time. You will also need to have printed out the instructions for whichever item you choose to make. Carla had emailed several beading attachments after the March meeting, so you can look at the photos to decide which you prefer. If you no longer have the information, please contact Marilee (dgbelanger@att.net) to have it sent to you again. Some additional information will also be sent to you to aid in choosing and stringing your beads.

KNOW Meeting – Knitting increases

We are returning to Spring Creek Barbeque for the first time in 15 months. This will be our first in-person meeting based on a vote of the Chapter members. Spring Creek said that they do not have any COVID restrictions in place for the use of their community/back room. Some members did not vote on the return to in-person meetings, and others expressed their concern about participating in a large group. We want this to be a positive experience for all KNOW members, so we are asking all to be sensitive to the concerns of others. It would be helpful if members bring a mask to wear during the meeting in case we have attendees who are not fully vaccinated. If you have any questions, please contact Nancy Threadgold, KNOW President. We hope to be able to ZOOM our program as well, but we are still working on the logistics. If you would like to attend the meeting via Zoom, please sent an email to that effect to knitatnightguildKNOW@gmail.com and we will try to accommodate you.
Members from other chapters wishing to attend our meeting are always welcome to do so.
Amy Rodgers will be presenting our June program. She will be presenting a program on increases, including a sampler or pared increases from KFB, M1, YO, twists and when to use them. Attendees are asked to bring either DK or worsted yarn and appropriate needles. A handout will be provided. Amy intends to discuss the issue of where distortion may matter in top-down garments or gussets.

KIND Meeting

We will meet at the Bayland Community Center, 6400 Bissonnet (near Bissonnet and Hillcroft) at 10am on June 17.

We will continue working on Cheryl Brunette’s sweater pattern. The website for the class is https://howtoknitasweater.com . Please watch the videos through #10 before the meeting.

KIK Zoom Meeting – Chinese Waitress cast on/bind off

Program will be presented by Connie Blakley
The KIK program for June will be a demonstration of the Chinese Waitress cast on and bind off stitches. This technique produces a lovely edge that looks the same on the right side and wrong side of your fabric and also looks the same on the cast-on and bind-off edges. It is an excellent choice for exposed edges on garments such as shawls and scarves. If you wish to knit along during the meeting, bring some yarn, knitting needles appropriately sized for your yarn choice, and a crochet hook.
Please send an email to KIK President (knitatnightguildkik@gmail.com) if you are not a chapter member and wish to attend.

CHIX Zoom Meeting – Future of chapter

Calling all Chix members. We must discuss the future of the CHIX chapter. Hope to see you at the next meeting. Let’s see what’s on the needles and off. Let’s show and share.

KNIT Zoom Meeting – Color Theory

Join us Tuesday June 8 at 6:30 via Zoom for a presentation and play about Color Theory with Kyla Crawford from Kyla’s Lab yarns. Kyla will guide us through theories on color as well as through some exercises and play with color. So unleash your mind. And bring a box of crayons – or colored pencils – something you can use to color inside and outside the lines.
We’ll send out a Zoom invitation for the June meeting.
And keep watching your mailbox — we plan to be back in person later this summer. Details to come.
