KIND Meeting – Sock Clinic

The June meeting of the KIND chapter will be a “Sock Clinic“.

Those who are proficient in sock knitting are going to help those who aren’t with tricks to help all be more successful sock knitters.

KNOW Meeting – Crewel Embroidery

KNOW’s June program will be an “Introduction to Crewel Embroidery on Hand Knits“.

We’ll be exploring the very hot trend of visible mending on garments and learning how to add embellishments to our hand knitted items. The visible mending movement has been driven by people interested in sustainability and who are concerned by the environmental impact of “fast fashion”.

If you’d like to try crewel embroidery you’re invited to “shop your closet” and bring a knitted garment, or maybe a swatch or a dishcloth to work on.

You’ll also need a blunt tapestry needle and some fingering or worsted weight scrap yarn, or embroidery floss, or needlepoint tapestry yarn (we’ll bring some too). If you’ve done visible mending before, please bring in any examples to share with other members and inspire us all.

Members are also invited to show and share any of your completed projects.

Members often arrive early to visit over dinner and show their support to the restaurant for their generosity in allowing us to meet there. Visitors and members from other chapters are always welcome.

KIK Meeting – My Favorite Shawl

*NOTE: There is a change in date this month!!

Most of us have knitted a shawl or two, so let’s show off our work and compare notes.

Bring your favorite shawl to show and share!! Also, please bring the pattern, yarn, and needle size you used. We can all get some ideas for future projects.

SoCK Meeting – Kool Aid Yarn Dyeing

Summer is here and it is HOT! What better way to cool off than with some Kool Aid? Instead of drinking it, SoCK members will head to the kitchen and do some yarn dyeing in the microwave with Kool Aid!

Dyeing with food dyes is an easy, fun, and safe way to become an indie dyer for a day. You can use any white or light-colored yarn that is animal fiber (wool, mohair, etc., no cottons or acrylics).

Materials to be provided for those in-person; otherwise, check your stash for leftovers or unloved hanks and give them a makeover with this fun technique! We will send out a full list of materials ahead of our meeting, so if you are not a SoCK chapter member, be sure to send an email to SoCK for the information.

We do hope to see you all in-person for this event; however, there will also be a zoom option for those who are unable to attend live. Just send a note to knitatnightguildsock@gmail.com and we will forward you the dial-in if you are not on our chapter mailing list.
