EEK! Let’s Steek!
The January and February SoCK meetings are about steeking – What is it, and when is it used in knitting? Annette Willis will show us different steeking techniques, focusing on the most common version. For Part 1 in January, we will start a simple steeking project that will be completed in February’s Part 2 program. Bring 3 or more colors of fingering yarn scraps and corresponding needles. If you have ever steeked a project, please bring it to show the group.

The KNOW meeting on the 18th is a Christmas party . The gift is to be $30-$35 yarn, preferably fingering, wrapped for a game . No acrylic please. You may also bring a sweet to share .

Join the SoCK group for our annual holiday party. Formulate your gift-stealing strategy for our White Elephant Gift Exchange Game. Bring a wrapped gift ($25-35 value) without any name tag. The gift should be related to or themed after knit/crochet/yarn, etc. Participation in the White Elephant is optional, but it’s a lot of fun and can be quite competitive! Bring knitting-friendly snacks or finger food. With any luck, the weather will be cool enough to show off lovely hand-made scarves, shawls, or sweaters. Come join us!
CHH Spinners
The Contemporary Handweavers of Houston (CHH) hosts spin-ins twice a month, the first Saturday of each month from 10-12 am, and the third Tuesday of the month at 6:30 pm. Both are held at the CHH Guild House, 1425 Blalock, 2nd floor. If you are a spinner, bring your wheel, drop spindle or e-spinner and check out our group and the guild. Join us for a fun program of stashbusting! Amelia Speck will be sharing projects that use up leftover yarn and can whittle away at your stash. There will be Christmas/holiday ideas too!
If you participated in the sock KAL and have any questions about your socks, we can help! If you are finished, please bring them to show off! We want to see them!!
Many of the members come early and have some fab Spring Creek BBQ for dinner beforehand. See y’all Monday, Nov 27th at 6:30pm.

Knitting in the Daytime (KIND)
DATE: 3rd Thursday of the month, 10am – 12pm
WHERE: Bayland Community Center, 6400 Bissonnet, Houston, TX – near Bissonnet and Hillcroft
We’ll be talking about luscious, shiny silk. KIND members will learn about silk hankies and find out how to create yarn from this type of silk. Bring a selection of needles in various sizes and (optional) your favorite hand moisturizer.
