HFF CHARITY

 

The 2023 Houston Fiber Fest charity focus is related to a topic that touches the lives of many in the Texas area: breast health, education, and cancer awareness. In Texas, breast cancer has been the leading cancer type since 2016. This year, we will be highlighting two organizations that support quality breast health care and providing services to breast cancer survivors.

Charity Knit-Together Event

What: Charity Knit-Together event
When: Sunday, October 23rd from 12 noon – 3PM
Where: Karbach Brewing Co.

We have a friendly competition planned for this first Charity Knit-Together event of the season!! Co-Charity coordinators (Sarah & Marie) will have a sign-in sheet. The chapter that has the greatest number of participants in the event will win seasonal notions to distribute to the whole chapter!

Membership to KANG is not a requirement to attend our charity knit-together events. Feel free to bring a friend!! Come on out and drop off your worked items, shop for new charity yarn, and catch up with friends from other chapters.

As a reminder, at charity knit-together events:

  •        Bring needles or crochet hooks
  •        Bring your Grammy
  •        Bring your favorite pattern
  •        Do NOT bring yarn, we have plenty for you to choose from!!
  •        Bring your friends
  •        Bring your completed items to add to the collection

What to make for charity: hats, scarves, blankets, shawls, socks, mittens, gloves, stuffed toys, wash cloths, head bands, slippers/booties, sweaters, cowls; ALL sizes from preemie to XXL adult.

The Best Little Yarn Crawl in Texas

The 2022 Best Little Yarn Crawl in Texas runs from October 7th through the 16th. We are continuing to evolve the crawl this year, so make sure to check here for all the news.

  • No passports needed – You do not have to purchase anything to join the fun! Just come see us online or in store for featured discounts, special events and door prizes.
  • We will have a Bingo card this year that you can download and get stamped during the crawl – visit all the participating shops for a chance to win a grand prize or enough to get a “bingo” for a chance to win one of two smaller prizes.
  • Each store will have its own crawl door prize drawings as well!
  • To celebrate 16 years of crawl, stores will have a limited supply of souvenir project bags that will be given away with a purchase of $75 or more. Shop early to get yours!
  • Every store is keeping their own special crawl hours so please check the store guide for information and to plan your route.
  • Each store is featuring a brand of yarn at 15% off. This means all yarns that are part of that brand are on sale during the crawl.
  • Each store continues to have their own safety policies, mask requirements and/or in store customer limits where needed so please click the store websites below for the most up to date information.

Charity Knit-Together Event

What: Charity Knit-Together event
When: Sunday, May 1st from 12 noon – 3PM
Where: Paradigm Brewing Co.

Paradigm Brewing sells drinks, snacks and has a lovely outdoor area under many shade trees. You don’t have to bring a folding chair and a water bottle for yourself, but it might be a good idea.

When: Saturday, March 19th from 12 noon – 3PM
Where: No Label Brewing Co.

Parking is pretty easy, there are usually food trucks, sometimes a live band, and a large variety of beers on tap.
We will be there with our teal suitcase of charity yarn.

Make plans to come out and drop off your worked items, shop for new charity yarn, and catch up with friends from other chapters. KANG and non-KANG members are welcome!

DO NOT BRING YARN… we have you covered!!

The weather tomorrow looks rainy and cold. Not fun for outdoor knitting.
We are cancelling and rescheduling for 19 March. Also at No Label Brewing in Katy.
Anyone who has piles of charity items to drop and cannot wait, please bring them at the SoCK meeting on 12 March.
