KNIT Zoom meeting – Summer of Socks
Zoom through the summer with KNIT as we have a Summer of Socks. Our own Natalie is presenting Two At A Time * Toe Up Socks. Choose between Vanilla Socks with Gusset, Beginner Toe Up Socks – Worsted Weight (pattern Knit Freedom), or Ann’s Five Gauge Socks. Natalie will use the worsted weight pattern (https://knitfreedom.com/free-pattern/toe-up-socks-beginner-magic-loop-worsted/) to guide us through a fast project that teaches all the facets of socks including turning the heel.
For July’s meeting, have the pattern, yarn, magic loop needles ready for knitting. See you all at the meeting. Chapter members look for my email.
KNIT Meeting – FROG that project!
Our March 10 meeting is all about spring, spring beginnings, spring break. So to go along with the biggest spring event in Houston we’re going to have the “Rippit Rodeo”. Bring that project that you’ve wanted to FROG and get it done during our time together. We’ll have a winder set up available so you can undo the project that’s not going to go any further and get it wound up and ready to go for a new one. And don’t forget the Poca KAL. Bring yours and we’ll work through next steps, directions, and questions.
KNIT Meeting – Knitting as a Form of Protest
Our program for the month is Knitting as a form of Protest with our very own Nancy Polychronopoulos.
Nancy will give a talk on the history of knitting and Crafting in Dissent about crafting as a way to protest – it’s not a new thing!
For our KAL, Step 2 is working the sleeve and dolman shaping — work through page 4 of the pattern which means you will end with the 3 Set Up for the Right Shoulder Rows. ** If you finish this phase up, and want a jump start you can work the Left Sleeve exactly has you have for the right (following the directions on page 6). **
Brioche part 2 assistance will be available for those of us knitting the All About the Brioche shawl.
Lastly a surprise from Ruth’s bag of knitting tricks. You won’t want to miss this month’s program!
KNIT Meeting – 2-color brioche
If you are following the KAL of Laura Nelkin’s POCA sweater. January is Step 1 – wind your yarn, make a gauge swatch. Just like Laura suggests, start knitting the sleeve. We will make sure you are on gauge for a correct fit.
KNIT Meeting – Holiday potluck
Join KNIT for our holiday potluck party as we end the year sharing food and fun yarny projects. Bring a dish, savory or sweet, and your completed projects for Show and Share. There will be sock yarn prizes for some extra holiday cheer. Knitters joining in the KAL can also talk about how they will begin the 2020 project.
KNIT Meeting – Tawashi Knots
KNIT Meeting – Using Beads
KNIT Meeting – Unique knitting stitches
Join us for two activities to “cast on” the new KNIT year. We have six members demonstrating unique knitting stitches with swatches and pattern applications. Come learn something fun from our own talented knitters. Also, everyone can participate as we survey the group for potential program activitities for the upcoming year – from KALs to skills and techniques. We really want your input. As usual, show and share is a favorite way to end the meeting, so bring your completed projects for all the “ohs and ahs!”
KNIT Meeting – July Picnic
Come to our July Picnic Knit ‘N Chat! Chapter members will receive a survey for picnic food ideas, then the chapter will supply the picnic. Come and chat with us as we celebrate the middle of summer!
