CHH Spinners – Spin-In

The Contemporary Handweavers of Houston (CHH) hosts spin-ins twice a month, the first Saturday of each month from 10-12 am, and the third Tuesday of the month at 6:30 pm. Both are held at the CHH Guild House, 1425 Blalock, 2nd floor.

If you are a spinner, bring your wheel, drop spindle or e-spinner and check out our group and the guild.

Occasionally meeting schedules will vary, so please check the CHH website calendar before heading out. For this and other information, see  http://www.weavehouston.org/

KNOW Meeting – SAMI Mittens

Amy Rodgers will do a presentation on the mittens knit by the SAMI people of the far North of the Nordic countries. She will show swatches created when attending an in-person class with Laura Ricketts, an expert in Sami traditional knitting. Amy recently completed a pair of mittens based on a pattern written by Laura Ricketts.
Members are also invited to show and share any of your completed projects.
Members often arrive early to visit over dinner and show their support to the restaurant for their generosity in allowing us to meet there. Visitors and members from other chapters are always welcome.
We’re looking forward to seeing you on June 26th!

KIK Meeting – Knit in Public Day

Our June meeting will be in the upstairs Conference Room. Meeting will be 1-1/2 hours. After the meeting we will meet at La Madeleine for lunch and KNITTING IN PUBLIC!

  • Continuing membership building ideas.
  • Bring your finished projects for the ongoing Charity Challenge and don’t forget your Show and Share!

KNIT Meeting – Sit ‘n’ Knit

With summer approaching, the June meeting will be a “sit and knit together“, enjoying the companionship of your fellow KNIT members.
Plus we will discuss ideas for program topics for upcoming meetings during 2023-24.
Please bring completed projects to show & share with members!

SoCK Meeting – Stitch Markers

Let’s Talk Stitch Markers!
Join us at SoCK’s June meeting as we will discuss the various types of stitch markers, and how to make them. Time permitting, we might be able to make a couple.
Homework: If you have needle nose pliers for jewelry, please bring them with you.

Katy Lace Knitters – Lace Knitting

Katy Lace Knitters will meet on Tuesday, June 6th, at 11 am at the Luby’s on South Mason Road.
We will discuss topics for our new education series. Bring your ideas of what you would like to learn about lace knitting and how to make your projects more successful.
Stay after the meeting to join us for lunch!

KNOW Meeting – Grafting

NOTE CHANGE IN DATE!
The May meeting of KNOW will be on grafting.
Grafting can be the solution to a number of knitting issues.
We will learn about standard grafting and discuss non-standard situations where grafting is useful.
Members are also invited to show and share any of your completed projects.

We would like to say thank-you to everyone who came to our Knitted Knockers event in April!
We’d like to remind you that you can bring your completed Knockers, with the yarn label, to Houston Fiber Festival, June 23-25.
For each pair you donate, you will receive one raffle ticket to enter to win an exclusive gift basket only for charity participants!
One donation is a pair (2) of knockers. In a ziploc bag, including the following:
  • A pair of unstuffed knockers
  • The skein label from the yarn used
  • Paper or index card with your first name and size knocker made

KIND Meeting – Yarn Tasting

KIND members will get a taste of the retreat while tasting yarn!

Members will split into groups to see and feel yarns made from different fibers and manufacturing methods.

The samples were created by Penny Nelson of Sky Loom Weavers and presented by her at the recent retreat; members will get a chance to experience the samples brought home by KIND’s retreat attendees.
