KNIT Meeting – Holiday Potluck

Join KNIT this month for the following events:

  1. Holiday Potluck – Celebrate the holidays with your fellow knitters at our annual holiday potluck. Please let us know if you plan to attend and what dish you will bring (sweet or savory). The chapter will provide the utensils, paper products, and beverages.
Email Karen by Dec 11th @ kdfern@gmail.com to let her know what you are bringing for the potluck.
  2. Yarn Exchange – Bring a wrapped (doesn’t have to be fancy, a plain bag will do) skein of nice yarn (no acrylic please) for a fun exchange of yarn.
  3. Show and share of your recently completed projects.

SoCK Meeting – Holiday Party

Join the SoCK group for our annual holiday party!!

Formulate your gift-stealing strategy for our White Elephant Gift Exchange. Bring a wrapped gift ($25-30 value). The gift should be related to or themed after knit/crochet/yarn, etc.

Participation in the White Elephant is optional, but it’s a lot of fun and can be quite competitive!

Bring snacks or finger food. With any luck, the weather will be cool enough to show off lovely hand-made scarves, shawls, or sweaters. Come join us!

KNOW Meeting – Upcycling

The November meeting of KNOW will feature a program on Upcycling by Nancy.

Join us as we discuss what is upcycling, the impact of the textile
industry on the environment, and things we can do as fiber artists/enthusiasts to change
our impact. Let’s not be part of the problem, but part of the solution!

Members are also invited to show and share any of your completed projects.

Members often arrive early to visit over dinner and show their support to the restaurant
for their generosity in allowing us to meet there. Visitors and members from other
chapters are always welcome.

KIND Meeting – Stranded Knitting

Stranded knitting is all the rage, especially for sweater yokes!

Take your stranding to the next level with the help of Amy Rodgers, KIND’s guest speaker. Amy will cover tips and tricks to make your work easier and to get your colorwork creations to stand out in a good way!

For the meeting, please bring two colors of smooth wool yarn and appropriate needles – double points or circular needles so you can practice these techniques on a small swatch in the round.

KIK Meeting – Open Knitting & Holiday Planning

REMINDER: NEW MEETING LOCATION!
KIK meetings have moved to a new location – Harris County Public Library, Kingwood Branch. We will meet in the large room to your right as you enter the library.
This month we will have Open Knitting and a discussion about the plans for our Holiday Party in December. We’ll also talk about our plans for Fall and Winter projects and gifts.

We’ll have a yarn swap so bring yarn that you aren’t planning to use and if you have small ends, mixed weights work!, put those together and we’ll share a free pattern for a Scrappy Cowl. (If you were with us last month you already have the link!!)
Bring your finished projects for Show and Share!
AND…… Bring a friend!

KNIT Meeting – Simply Scrappy Cowl KAL

The chapter will begin a knit-along with the Simply Scrappy Cowl  (https://www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/simply-scrappy-cowl ).

The pattern is suitable for knitters of all levels and is available for free on Ravelry for a “limited time“– no expiration date is provided.

If you plan to participate in the KAL, download or add the pattern to your Ravelry Library ASAP. Bring your leftover yarn to the meeting and we can help each other choose the yarns and order of use for our cowls. It appears to be a quick project – you may have a pretty new cowl to wear for our first cold front.

Crocheters – bring a scrappy project you have in your queue and join the fun!!

Also, bring your Show and Share!!

The Zoom link will be included in the email to chapter members. If you are not a KNIT member, but would like to join via Zoom – contact Karen at knitatnightguildknit@gmail.com

SoCK Meeting – Amigurumi

Amigurumi with Annette:

Come join SoCK in November for cuteness overload! Amigurumi is the Japanese art of crocheting or knitting small, stuffed yarn creatures.

Annette will teach us crocheted Magic Circle, which is the foundation for making all kinds of little figures. For the program we’ll make a cute little Santa hat, perfect for small gifts and stocking-stuffers. To participate, bring leftover worsted or DK yarn and the appropriate size crochet hook.

KNOW Meeting – Felting

DATE CHANGE: We’re meeting a week early this month!!

Please join us for a program on felting.

Amy will share what she learned while converting a well-loved handknit sweater into a lined autumn felted tote/purse. If you have made felted purses in the past, please bring them.

Members are also invited to show and share any of your completed projects.

Members often arrive early to visit over dinner and show their support to the restaurant
for their generosity in allowing us to meet there. Visitors and members from other
chapters are always welcome.

We’re looking forward to seeing you on October 24th!

SoCK Meeting – Lace Knitting

Summary
New to knitting or to knitting lace? Come to the SoCK chapter meeting, learn some basics, and get some hands-on practice with a simple lace pattern.
Pre-work (HOMEWORK):
Using fingering or DK yarn and size 5-7 needles, cast on loosely 39 stitches.
Work four rows in garter stitch, placing stitch markers between edge and body stitches (after first four stitches and before last four stitches on needle) while working row 4.

KNIT Meeting – Knit-Along (KAL)

Join our October program as we begin a knit-along with Laura Nelkin’s Starry Light or Love and Light (both available on Ravelry).

They are created by knitting with LED fairy lights. The star and small version of the heart require a 66 foot (200 light) strand. The large heart requires a 99 foot (300 light) strand. They are available on Amazon and Ebay and possibly a local craft store.
