Experience the magic of short rows.
Short rows let you add interesting design elements to your projects and improve the fit of your garments. Practice Wrap & Turn, German, Japanese, and Twin Stitch (fish lips kiss) techniques. Learn why some methods are more suited to stockinette and garter stitch and why some are more visible on the back side of your work.
Bring smooth yarn (worsted or DK weight) and suitable needles.
This year’s SoCK programs are designed to elevate your skills. For the September meeting, we’ll kick off our yearly challenge. The theme is “Making those UFOs become FOs.” For the challenge kickoff, there will be a prize for the person who brings the most UFOs (or photo evidence of them) to the meeting. At the end of the year, there will be prizes for the most completed UFOs.
You also can challenge yourself to dig into new skills you want to learn! Upcoming programs are on short rows, socks, backward knitting and knitting styles, Portuguese knitting, crochet skills, Knit Companion Part 2, yarn dyeing with Koolaid, and Granny Square crochet! Challenge yourself to grow your skills!
August’s meeting is the program we had planned in July that was interrupted by Hurricane Beryl.
It is a combination of a sit & knit and planning our next year’s programs.
We’ll ask volunteers to claim a particular month.
We don’t need you to know exactly what your program will be, just volunteer for a time slot.
We’ll do the same thing for Door Prize volunteers.
After that, we’ll show and share finished projects and have a relaxing time just sitting and knitting (or crocheting). Please come be part of this!
The Handover Meeting is scheduled for Saturday, July 27th at 8:30a-11:30a at the Trini Mendenhall Community Center!
Meeting is intended for all outgoing and incoming members of the Executive Board and the Chapter Presidents. Membership persons from the chapter level also welcome.
Please bring your green KANG binder for the handover meeting!!
Refreshments will be provided.

Release your inner geek! The April program explores Ravelry and KnitCompanion. Both of these applications are very powerful aids to your knitting and crocheting. For Ravelry, learn how to build robust queries to search for particular designers, patterns, yarns, and LYSs. Get help and inspiration from project posts and community forums. Ravelry lets you save your searches and build collections of your favorite patterns. It also seamlessly feeds your patterns into KnitCompanion. KnitCompanion, an indispensable tool, is available for both Apple and Android devices. It stores your patterns in electronic format so you don’t need to keep track of paper copies. Learn how to create a project, customize counting, mark up patterns, track progress, customize charts, make notes, and more!
