KNIT Meeting – HFF Show & Share

If you attended the Houston Fiber Fest, the July meeting will be an opportunity to share interesting or unique vendor items you saw, tell us about skills you learned in a class, and we would enjoy seeing new yarn purchases.
Please bring completed projects to show/share with members.

KNIT Meeting – Sit ‘n’ Knit

With summer approaching, the June meeting will be a “sit and knit together“, enjoying the companionship of your fellow KNIT members.
Plus we will discuss ideas for program topics for upcoming meetings during 2023-24.
Please bring completed projects to show & share with members!

KNIT Meeting – Knitted Edging

Kathy Wells will lead a hands-on program on knitted edging.
Homework: 
  1. Using long tail cast on and a standard bindoff, knit a swatch at least 4″ X 4″ (a dishcloth without a border can be used)
  2. Knit the swatch using a basic pattern stitch such as Double Moss , Broken Rib, or Ridged Rib
Bring to meeting:
  1. Knitted swatch
  2. Needles used to knit swatch
  3. A second set of needles 1 to 3 sizes smaller than swatch needles
  4. Contrast color yarn
Please bring completed projects to show/share with members.

Bring the project to the April meeting for help from another member.

Hands-on opportunity for members to learn different Purl Techniques.

Bring scrap yarn and needles to practice the different methods of purling!!

KNIT Meeting – Peyton Heart Project

PLEASE NOTE THE NEW MEETING TIME!!!

For our Valentine’s Day meeting, knit a heart for Peyton Heart Project (charity yarn will be available) or bring your favorite heart knit or crochet project to work on at the meeting.

If you would like to attend from another chapter, let us know and the pattern suggestions will be forwarded to you.

KNIT Meeting – Patty Lyons’ Knitting Tips

Come join KNIT for a Program on: Knitting tips

Patty Lyons’ new book, Knitting Bag of Tricks, will be shared including jogless stripes, joining in the round, bind off in pattern, count your cast on, ending the round smoothly, ditching the knot, and dropping a cast on stitch.

Members are encouraged to share their favorite tips also!

We will also have a show and share of current and/or completed projects!

KNIT Meeting – Holiday Potluck

Join KNIT this month for the following events:

  1. Holiday Potluck – Celebrate the holidays with your fellow knitters at our annual holiday potluck. Please let us know if you plan to attend and what dish you will bring (sweet or savory). The chapter will provide the utensils, paper products, and beverages.
    Email Karen by Dec 11th @ kdfern@gmail.com to let her know what you are bringing for the potluck.
  2. Yarn Exchange – Bring a wrapped (doesn’t have to be fancy, a plain bag will do) skein of nice yarn (no acrylic please) for a fun exchange of yarn.
  3. Show and share of your recently completed projects.

KNIT Meeting – Knit-Along (KAL)

Join our October program as we begin a knit-along with Laura Nelkin’s Starry Light or Love and Light (both available on Ravelry).

They are created by knitting with LED fairy lights. The star and small version of the heart require a 66 foot (200 light) strand. The large heart requires a 99 foot (300 light) strand. They are available on Amazon and Ebay and possibly a local craft store.
