KNIT Meeting – Creativity Exercise

  1. August program –  Kathy Wells will lead a creativity exercise. Each member should bring 3-4 SMALL balls of yarn to share for the activity. Bring different weights, fingering to super bulky, and a variety of textures- any ply, boucle, ribbon, fun fur, satiny to homespun, etc.  The yarn will be used by all for this fun and creative activity. Kathy will supply needles.
  2. Show and Share
A Zoom option will be available for those unable to attend in person and the link will be distributed to KNIT members. Other KANG members may contact Karen at knitatnightguildknit@gmail.com

KNIT Meeting – Bead Knitting

KNIT’s July program:

Crystal Smith will lead the July program – the topic is “Knitting with Beads”.
Any materials needed or homework will be supplied in an email to KNIT members.

KNIT Meeting – Yarn Substitutions

Starting a new project and want to substitute yarn from your stash rather than buying more yarn or the pattern yarn is no longer available? Have you substituted a yarn and run out of yarn before the project was finished? 

April’s program will address grist – the weight/yard comparisons (density of yarn) – a consideration that is important to ensure you have enough substitute yarn for your project. Members are encouraged to contribute other considerations they have found to be important when making a yarn substitution.

KNIT Meeting – Holiday Cheer

Join us this month for a:

  1. Holiday Potluck – Celebrate the holidays with your fellow knitters at our annual holiday potluck. Please let us know if you plan to attend and what dish you will bring (sweet or savory). The chapter will provide the utensils, paper products, and drinks. Email Natalie by Dec 13th @ salter.natalie@gmail.com to let her know what you are bringing for the potluck.

  2. White Elephant Yarn Exchange – Bring a wrapped (doesn’t have to be fancy, a plain bag will do) skein of nice yarn (no acrylic please) for a fun exchange of yarn.

  3. Show and share of your recently completed projects.

Members Helping Members

Have a project in the back of your closet or designated as hibernating on Ravelry because you need assistance with a stitch, instructions or technique? Brush the cobwebs off the project, bring it to the meeting to take advantage of the expertise of other members, and get your project back on track.

KNIT Meeting – Cast-ons / Cast-offs (continued…!)

This month we are continuing our Cast-on / Cast-off series by learning the “Italian Two Color” cast-on and cast-off.

This is a great combo for brioche, double knitting, two color rib, etc.
