SoCK Meeting – Stitch Markers

Let’s Talk Stitch Markers!
Join us at SoCK’s June meeting as we will discuss the various types of stitch markers, and how to make them. Time permitting, we might be able to make a couple.
Homework: If you have needle nose pliers for jewelry, please bring them with you.

KNOW Meeting – Grafting

NOTE CHANGE IN DATE!
The May meeting of KNOW will be on grafting.
Grafting can be the solution to a number of knitting issues.
We will learn about standard grafting and discuss non-standard situations where grafting is useful.
Members are also invited to show and share any of your completed projects.
Members often arrive early to visit over dinner and show their support to the restaurant for their generosity in allowing us to meet there. Visitors and members from other chapters are always welcome.
We’re looking forward to seeing you on May 22nd!
We would like to say thank-you to everyone who came to our Knitted Knockers event in April!
We’d like to remind you that you can bring your completed Knockers, with the yarn label, to Houston Fiber Festival, June 23-25.
For each pair you donate, you will receive one raffle ticket to enter to win an exclusive gift basket only for charity participants!
One donation is a pair (2) of knockers. In a ziploc bag, including the following:
  • A pair of unstuffed knockers
  • The skein label from the yarn used
  • Paper or index card with your first name and size knocker made

KIND Meeting – Yarn Tasting

KIND members will get a taste of the retreat while tasting yarn!

Members will split into groups to see and feel yarns made from different fibers and manufacturing methods.

The samples were created by Penny Nelson of Sky Loom Weavers and presented by her at the recent retreat; members will get a chance to experience the samples brought home by KIND’s retreat attendees.

Bring your finished projects for the ongoing Charity Challenge and don’t forget your Show and Share!

Library closed for the Juneteenth weekend. Also in the CONFERENCE ROOM!!!

KNIT Meeting – Knitted Edging

Kathy Wells will lead a hands-on program on knitted edging.
Homework: 
  1. Using long tail cast on and a standard bindoff, knit a swatch at least 4″ X 4″ (a dishcloth without a border can be used)
  2. Knit the swatch using a basic pattern stitch such as Double Moss , Broken Rib, or Ridged Rib
Bring to meeting:
  1. Knitted swatch
  2. Needles used to knit swatch
  3. A second set of needles 1 to 3 sizes smaller than swatch needles
  4. Contrast color yarn
Please bring completed projects to show/share with members.

SoCK Meeting – Knitted Knockers

SoCK will meet back at our usual spot at the Richard & Meg Weekley Community Center
Join SoCK as Debbie Smith teaches us to make crocheted or knitted knockers.

KNOW Meeting – Repairing Socks

The title of our April meeting of KNOW will be Repair Your Hand Knit Socks.
Introduce yourself to darning needles, eggs, and mushrooms. We will also learn to knit a patch to cover a bigger hole.
Please bring an assortment of your socks, similar yarn, darning needles and your sock double points.
Members are also invited to show and share any of your completed projects.
Members often arrive early to visit over dinner and show their support to the restaurant for their generosity in allowing us to meet there.
Visitors and members from other chapters are always welcome!!
We’re looking forward to seeing you on April 24th!
We also hope to see you on Saturday April 29th 1-4 for our Knitted Knockers gathering at the same location. We will be knitting “knockers” for this organization, and we plan to have a few volunteers who have some experience with these patterns to help us out. Check out the Knitted Knockers event that is covered in the Charity announcement and join us!

KIK Meeting – Beaded Eyeglass Chain

Our program for April will be a Beaded Eyeglass Chain presented by Connie.
Please bring:
Approximately 20 yards of fingering weight yarn
2 Size 1 double points
We will provide the beads and eyeglass grips…and any other “tools”
****Skill Level is Easy!***
As always – Open Knitting and sharing ideas!

KIND Meeting – Fair Isle (pt. 2)

At the April KIND meeting we will discuss 3 ways to secure a steek.

For those who have done the Fair Isle portion of the “Steek This Coffee Cozy“, you can choose one of these options for your piece.

If you secure your steek at the meeting, you can join us in cutting through the knitting (!!) and then add a cardigan button band.

If you wish to attend and you are not a KIND member, please email Barbara Haas, KIND president.
