KNOW Meeting – Familiar Stitch Patterns (Pt. 1)

KNOW’s February program will be the first in a series covering “Familiar Stitch Patterns”.

This month we will focus on a traditional lace pattern called “Old Shale”, presented by Amy Rodgers.  Old Shale is an 18-stitch repeat pattern and very adaptable to baby blankets, scarves, and shawls. Members are also invited to show and share any of your completed projects.

Members often arrive early to visit over dinner and show their support to the restaurant for their generosity in allowing us to meet there.  Visitors and members from other chapters are always welcome.

KIK Meeting – Broomstick Lace

Lu Ann will teach us how to knit the “Broomstick Lace” pattern. This pattern is really pretty with yarn that has fairly short repeats.

Materials:

You will need any weight yarn with the appropriate needle size.

*NOTE: Using yarn that’s fuzzy or doesn’t have good stitch definition is not recommended.

Homework:

Cast on, in multiples of 5, enough stitches to make an approximately 5-7 inch width scarf.

For example, for fingering weight yarn cast on 35 stitches.

Knit the first 2 rows.

Row 3. ” knit 1, yo 2 times” repeat until the last stitch, knit 1.

–>We will be starting with row 4 in class.

KIND Meeting – “Swift” Magic

Do you have a device for winding hanks of yarn into balls? Jane will lead this program and help us learn all about this “swift”.

HOMEWORK: Bring your swift and yarn that needs winding!

SoCK Meeting – Knitting Ergonomics

SoCK Member, Ann, will present a program on Exercise While Knitting, showing us the importance of ergonomics for your hands!
