KNOW Meeting – Slip Stitch Edge

KNOW’s January meeting will be a program called “Tricks with a Slip Stitch Edge” presented by Amy Rodgers.

The topic is the first and last stitches when knitting flat with single point needles. If you would like to stitch along bring two colors of DK or Worsted weight yarn and appropriate needles. Members are also invited to show and share any knitting gifts they received. As always, we’d love to see any of your completed projects.

Visitors and members from other chapters are always welcome. Members often arrive early to visit over dinner and show their support to the restaurant for their generosity in allowing us to meet there.

We’re looking forward to seeing you on January 31st!

KIK Meeting – Yarn Mysteries

The Mysteries of Yarn

We will discuss the characteristics of yarn, including weights, the numbering system for yarn weights, how to determine the weight of your yarn in case you’ve lost the label, and tips for determining the fiber content. We will also learn how to determine the amount of yarn needed for a project if you are using a different yarn than specified in the pattern, and how to estimate yarn amounts for a pattern you are creating. Bring some scrap yarn and appropriate size needles for knitting a swatch.

KIND Meeting – Duplicate Knitting

Marsha Smith will show us how to do duplicate knitting.

In preparation, please knit a small swatch, using these instructions:

  • Using a smooth yarn, solid color, worsted or DK weight and appropriately sized needles, cast on 18 stitches.
  • Row 1 and 2: Knit
  • Row 3: Knit 18
  • Row 4: K2, P14, K2
  • Repeat Rows 3 and 4 until you have completed 14 rows.
  • Row 15 and 16: Knit
  • Bind off and block swatch

Also, bring scissors, embroidery floss in a contrasting color (if you have any) and a blunt tipped tapestry needle. If you don’t have floss or tapestry needles, there will be extra to use.

KNIT Meeting – All About Charts

January’s program will provide insight into reading and understanding charts.

Also, be sure to bring your recently completed projects for Show & Share!

While we hope to see you all in person, there will be a zoom option also available for those who unable to make it.  Just send a note to knitatnightguildknit@gmail.com and we will forward you the dial-in information if you are not on our chapter mailing list.
