KIK Meeting – Beading

We have an exciting program for our July 20th meeting in Kingwood.  Crystal Smith from the KNIT chapter will be presenting a program on using beads with knitting.  The program will cover information for beginners as well as advanced knitters.   Those with more experience are encouraged to bring their projects to show and discuss.  Materials needed are fingering weight yarn (solid, lighter colors are best) and size 6 or 8 beads.  You will also need a beading tool.  a size 1.25 mm crochet hook will work.  She will bring other materials to use if you do not have the tool.

KIK meets at the Kingwood Medical Center in the Kingwood Room from 10:00 am to 12:00.  We meet on the 3rd Saturday.  The address is 22999 Hwy 59 N. Kingwood, TX 77339   Hope to see you there.

CHIX Meeting

We are looking forward to seeing all of you in July.  Lots of things are going on!

  • It’s time to renew your membership
  • Election of KANG officers and CHIX officers
  • Discussion of programs for the coming year
  • There will be several drawings of Amazon gift cards to finish out our financial year.  Must be present to win!

If anyone missed the introduction of embroidery on your knitting or crochet items, bring your swatches and supplies and we will address it at the meeting.

KNIT Meeting – July Picnic

Come to our July Picnic Knit ‘N Chat!  Chapter members will receive a survey for picnic food ideas, then the chapter will supply the picnic.  Come and chat with us as we celebrate the middle of summer!

KNOT Meeting – Happy Endings

Rescheduled from May 23rd:  “Happy Endings” will teach us some attractive ways to finish off our knitting projects.  The program will include Crab Stitch (crochet) and a couple of different I-cord bind offs.

A bit of homework:  Cast on about 18-20 stitches and knit 8 rows.  Use any scrap yarn you have on hand, preferably in a solid light color so that you can see the stitches clearly.  Don’t bind off; leave the stitches on your needles.  Please also bring a crochet hook about equal to the size of your needles.  If you don’t have a hook, we’ll have some available for you to use.

KNOW Meeting –

We all love the time we spend together showing off our finished projects. So, we are going to have a little fun with Show & Share during our “Summer Show & Share Sheepstakes.” Everything you complete that was begun no earlier than May 20 (the date of our last meeting) and that contains at least 150 yards of fiber will be eligible to win a prize. We will be awarding prizes to recognize the largest item made (based on yardage); the most items completed; and finally, the most unusual item. So get knitting! And please bring your all your finished projects, not just those that fit the contest criteria, to Show & Share on June 24.

In addition, we will be voting to fill several Executive Board positions, along with the positions of KNOW president, KNOW Membership Coordinator, and KNOW Program Coordinator(s). Voting is open to KNOW members only. Please plan to attend and participate in the nomination and voting process.

Finally, every KNOW member will receive a special gift to commemorate our 2018-2019 year. Be sure to come to the meeting to claim yours!

KIK Meeting -Decreases on mitered squares

This month we have the honor of having our KANG President, Dolores Rose, show us the effect of different decreases on mitered squares.  We will need worsted weight yarn and appropriate size needles for the yarn. Yarn should be a smooth, solid light-colored yarn to show the effect best.

KNIT Meeting – Houston Fiber Fest

We will continue our anticipation and preparation for Houston Fiber Fest.  Please bring projects you have made with yarn purchased at past Houston Fiber Fests (or just bring the yarn if you are still thinking about the perfect project for that yarn).  We will discuss vendors and share our shopping lists!
