KIND Meeting – Dyeing with Kool Aid

For October Annie Foley will be teaching us how to dye yarn with Kool-Aid!!

We have seen her vibrant colors of yarn that she has done this way. This is an easy, fun and safe way to dye yarn.

Materials:

  • Yarn and dye will be provided
  • Aprons optional.

KNIT Meeting – Cast-ons / Cast-offs (continued…!)

This month we are continuing our Cast-on / Cast-off series by learning the “Italian Two Color” cast-on and cast-off.

This is a great combo for brioche, double knitting, two color rib, etc.

Also, be sure to bring your recently completed projects for Show & Share!

While we hope to see you all in person, there will be a zoom option also available for those who unable to make it.  Just send a note to knitatnightguildknit@gmail.com and we will forward you the dial-in information if you are not on our chapter mailing list.

SoCK Meeting – Felting

This month’s program will be led by SoCK member, Jayne, who will present on “Felting

The featured project is a beautiful Fall Wreath (free pattern found here: https://cdn.accentuate.io/…/Knit-Pattern-Fall-Wreath…)
There will be some swatches made to show-off the pattern charts. Handouts will be provided at the meeting!

Materials to Bring:

  • 100% wool yarn (recommended: Lion Brain Alpine Wool in “Olive”, “Chili”, “Cinnamon”, and “Nature’s Brown”)
  • size 10 needles
  • laptop/tablet/device to connect to Zoom (without audio) as Jayne will be presenting remotely

  • For those comfortable and wanting to meet in-person, the meeting will be held in the Richard and Meg Weekly Community Center
  • For those wishing to stay on Zoom, the meeting also will be hosted virtually

KIK Meeting – Outlander KAL

For September’s program, we are starting a Knit-A-Long!!
KAL – Boar Hunt Capelet, Part 1
We will begin to knit the Boar Hunt Capelet from the TV series Outlander. This lovely capelet is easy to knit using bulky yarn and features a seed stitch collar and left- and right-leaning increases for the shoulder shaping. The free pattern will be provided at the meeting.
Materials List:
  • bulky weight tweed yarn (~250 yds)
  • 24-inch circular needles in size 11
  • stitch markers

FYI: Knit Picks has a reasonably-priced selection of bulky weight yarns.

Advisement: Covid restrictions at the library require social distancing. Due to the current Covid-19 threat level, we will follow current CDC & local guidelines and recommend that all attendees (both vaccinated and unvaccinated) wear masks.

KIND Meeting – Favorite Things

For our September meeting, we will be sharing our favorite knitting/crocheting things – needles, yarn, patterns, etc.

We are back to in-person meetings and focusing this September’s program on Cast-ons & Cast-offs!
Our meeting will highlight creating a hem at the cast-on edge and i-cord cast-off.

Also, there will be show and share of your recently completed projects!

KNOW Meeting – Buttonholes

September’s program will be all about buttonholes!
Amy Rodgers has designed a great program for us with a roundup of different options for buttonholes. Please plan to attend and learn everything you need to know in order to choose a technique that will be functional and decorative for your projects.
If you have not already renewed your membership, please do so at the meeting.

KNOW Meeting – Reflections & Programs

In August, we will reflect on the various pandemic projects and any fiber lessons learned in the last year.
Come prepared to discuss the direction KNOW should take in the coming year. We are particularly interested in program requests or offers to present to the chapter. We would also like to discuss any other issues our members might have regarding KNOW.

KIK Meeting – Pandemic Projects

In August, our program will be “Pandemic Projects.”

We all did a lot of kitting during the pandemic, so bring some of your favorite completed projects to share with members.

*Note: KIK resumes in-person meetings this month, temporarily meeting at the R. B. Tullis Library, located on the US-59 northbound feeder road, just north of the Grand Parkway. Covid restrictions at the library require social distancing; also, please wear a mask if you have not been vaccinated.
