SoCK Meeting – Baby Garments

In August, we will continue to knit and crochet our baby garments for donation. Also, if you have any charity items you have knitted or crocheted, be sure to bring those as well!

Be sure to bring your favorite pattern book or your favorite notion to the meeting.

*Note: We will be meeting in-person and on Zoom.

KNIT Meeting – Cast-ons / Cast-offs

Our meeting will highlight two different pairs of cast-ons/cast-offs.
In addition, for show and share, bring or have pictures of the following for the YEAR of COVID:
  1. Ugliest project you’ve worked on (not necessarily finished)
  2. Project you’re most proud of, and
  3. Most challenging project you’ve done this year.
Be prepared to share the count of your completed projects for THE YEAR OF COVID. If you have your Ravelry account, show us that. (Door prize for the most!).

KNOT Meeting – Beaded bracelets

We will be having ice cream/treats and continuing the beaded crochet/knit bracelets project that we started with Carla during the June meeting.

KNOW Meeting – Illusion knitting

We returned to Spring Creek for in person meetings with our June meeting. Spring Creek said that they do not have any COVID restrictions in place for the use of their community/back room, and we anticipate this remaining the case. We acknowledge some members still have reservations about meeting in a large group, but the majority of members voted to resume our in-person meetings. We will be adjusting our plans based on the membership’s wishes. If you have questions or concerns, please email them to KNOW via the KANG website and we will take your thoughts under advisement.
Members often arrive early to Spring Creek to visit over dinner, please consider joining your fellow KNOW members for some food and friendship.
Members from other chapters wishing to attend our meeting are always welcome to do so.
In July: Now you see it, now you don’t! The July KNOW program will be all about Illusion knitting which looks like simple stripes from one angle, then turns into a fun motif when the perspective is changed. We will knit a simple motif to illustrate, then reveal the secret of Illusion knitting so you can create your own. To participate, bring two contrasting colors of the same smooth yarn (one light and one dark, both solids.) The effect works best if the knitting is a bit tight, so you may wish to use needles 1 size smaller than you would normally use for that yarn.

KIK Zoom Meeting – Knitwear from the movies

As fiber artists, you most likely have noticed knitted or crocheted garments while watching movies, but have you ever thought about trying to recreate one of those garments? KIK member Connie Blakley, a fan of period movies and an avid knitter, recently decided it would be fun to do some research about knitwear seen in movies. She will discuss her findings and show some patterns that closely resemble those garments. Members are encouraged to share their own discoveries of movie knitwear.
Please send an email to KIK President (knitatnightguildkik@gmail.com) if you are not a chapter member and wish to attend.

KIND Meeting – Reading charts

KIND will meet on July 15 at 10am at Bayland Community Center. This month’s program will be understanding how to read charts. Bring some scrap yarn and needles to practice with.

KNIT Meeting –

Welcome back to Trini Mendehall for the Co-Presidents hand-off. We are excited to welcome as new Co-Presidents, Natalie and Karen. Bring your projects to work on. Let’s celebrate seeing each other. A virtual link will be provided for members who want to join online.

SoCK Meeting – Baby donations

Please join SOCK as we knit baby items to donate. The votes are in Ravelry: Little Babbity – Preemie Baby Cardigan Jacket pattern by marianna mel and Ravelry: Little Jay – Premature Baby Cardigans pattern by marianna mel. Both patterns are knit with DK weight yarn and size US6 knitting needles. We will be finishing up our shawls and any past projects. Make sure you bring items for show and share.
We will be meeting at the Weekley Community Center and Zoom, so please mark your calendar to be present.

KNOT Meeting – Beaded bracelet

At our June 24 meeting, Carla Farris will be teaching how to make your choice of a knitted beaded bracelet or a beaded crocheted rope. You will need to have your beads threaded and ready to begin at that time. You will also need to have printed out the instructions for whichever item you choose to make. Carla had emailed several beading attachments after the March meeting, so you can look at the photos to decide which you prefer. If you no longer have the information, please contact Marilee (dgbelanger@att.net) to have it sent to you again. Some additional information will also be sent to you to aid in choosing and stringing your beads.
